Abstract

Green fractions conservation and incorporation within urban areas favor aesthetic as well as physical conditions. They affect the environmental regulation of the hygrothermal behaviors, which is an intrinsic plant organism capacity. Thus, this research focused on estimating the urban green fraction capacity to modify microclimatic behavior. We simulated three urban design scenarios in the city of Medellín, Colombia: Current Scenario, Gray Scenario, without vegetation, and Green Scenario, with planned vegetation. The microclimatic effects for each case were simulated using the ENVI-met software, a tool based on CFD that allows involving anthropic and architectural factors with meteorological and physical variables.
