Abstract

Failure to achieve the H2020 goals for the post- World War II buildings refurbishment, suggests to shift attention to hotels, an economically strategic field that can become the test for experimenting with innovative technological solutions, with positive effects also for residential buildings.
The research goal – in line with objectives 7 and 13 of the 2030 Agenda – is the identification of a homogeneous set of guidelines for hotels refurbishment. The paper presents the results of the analysis of the hotel building stock in Halkidiki. The case study highlighted how the problems of technical feasibility are combined with environmental ones: in the Mediterranean regions – traditionally linked to tourism – hotels not only have a significant economic and social value, but also an important cultural assessment due to the significant geographical and environmental features.
